Lwazi's CEO is Delphine du Toit, a well organised, easygoing hostess. She likes guests who participate in the basic activities of their journey so that it feels more like a trip with a friend than an official tour. She does not subscribe to the idea of forcing events, but every experience must be valued on its own merits. Delphine's passion for conservation is evident in everything she does: at home she converted a swimming pool into a pond which now houses several species of indigenous creatures, along with lilies and reeds. She has converted her garden to a haven of indigenous plants and trees; home to a large variety of birds and bees and lizards and things. Lwazi's research consultant is Baz Edmeades. He is in the final stages of writing a book on the impact of human hunting on the megafauna. On some of the specialised Lwazi safaris Baz is a most fascinating host with his in-depth knowledge of natural history. Delphine’s favourite guests are visitors who have a sense of adventure, a love of nature, and who are naturally curious about the world around them. (And who preferably don’t smoke). To her, tourism is a great vehicle for rebuilding post-apartheid South Africa, making conservation a front-of-mind issue for politicians, community and business leaders.
