COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT
We follow a philosophy of contributing to the communities in which we
work, over and above any taxes we are required to pay. Where circumstances
allow, we prefer to become directly involved in community organisations
that may be able to benefit from our expertise and energies. So, for
example, Delphine is currently donating her time in investigating the
feasibility of establishing a volunteer programme for the Endangered
Wildlife Trust in Johannesburg, South Africa. (Visit EWT at http://www.ewt.org.za).
Lwazi also works with donor organisations in the development of sustainable
work and business practices in NGO’s and other community based
organisations.
If you are involved in an NGO or community based organisation and you
think Lwazi may be of assistance to you, please contact us at community@lwazi.com.
CORPORATE
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)
As globalisation shrinks the world and as the Internet and other media
make it possible to know so much more about each other, it is becoming
increasingly important for companies to show their willingness to contribute
to the communities in which they operate, through CSR programmes. African
companies will increasingly come under pressure to adopt CSR policies
as the Global Village opens its doors to Africa. Lwazi supports the
concept of the good corporate citizen. At Lwazi we also know that cheque-book
charity is ineffective and open to corrupt or incompetent practices.
We have therefore established a CSR service for companies that would
introduce CSR but fear the pitfalls and traps. We provide solid guidance
on how to select the appropriate organisations to support, and the mechanisms
to have in place to ensure that CSR funds are appropriately applied.
An important component of CSR is the measurement of the impact of a
company’s contribution: We want to make sure that you and the
community can see the difference you have made.
